| I will only sell chimeras that have bloomed true or blooming true now!
Chimeras are not just a hobby for me, they are my passion and business. A chimera
(pronounced ki-mir-a) is a unique type of African
violet that cannot be reproduced from leaf cuttings.
Chimera blooms have a "pinwheel pattern". Chimera plants can only be propagated by suckers, or flower stalks. The plants
contain two sets of genetic material or genetic
coding which results in a striped or pinwheel type
blossom, though some have had swirls. Color patterns
and color combinations are unique. Scientifically,
the lateral edge of each corolla segment is a different
color than the central portion, giving the whole
flower a "spoked" appearance, with the "spokes" being one color and the "spaces between the spokes" a different color.
Because propagation takes longer than using regular leaf propagation, chimeras
tend to be more expensive. Each plants must be grown
out and boomed to assure that it is truly chimera.
I culture over 400 varieties of chimera african violets. Each plant is packaged
carefully to arrive at your door proven, and healthy.
